Ohh... my fingers are itching so!! Itching to dig them into finger pockets, stick them into underclings, hang them on oversized jugs and squash them on puny crimpers... I MISS CLIMBING in KRABI!!
Nothing beats climbing outdoors, all naturale. The sun beating down your back, the firmness of the rocks against your hands, the sweat trickling down your back (sometimes butterflies in your stomach making you feel like crapping) and of course the awesome sense of acheivement when you manage to lead a challenging route (anything above 6a+ for me at the moment).
So hard to get back down to planet earth, back to mundane work... facing clueless clients, demanding boss, dying patients, annoying colleaguyes yada yada yada.. i'm sure u get the pic.
Anyway, back to my reverie....
Managed to lead couple of 6bs this time round, did top rope on 6b+ and 6c. So cool. Feel so inspired now to climb harder so that I can lead 6b+s next round!
Of coz I have to add the next section:
Memoirs of my krazi krabi climbing buddies. Who can forget:
- Minimalist Alex?
Who brought only a pair of shoes ( no slippers, sandals etc), hence had to trek through the rising tide from Railey to Tonsei barefooted, skillfully balancing on the sharp barnacles covered rocks.
Who threw away a pair of pants, a bag pack, tooth brush at the end of the trip so that his bag finally weighed a mere total of 6 freaking kg at the airport (mine weighed 11 kg).
Who unbashfully donned a skimpy running shorts and "airy" singlet to dinner to sleep to everywhere else on Railey (except climbing coz lots of mossies)
Whos uses his favourite "drop-knee" stance in EVERY route be it a 4, 5 or 7a.
Alex balancing on rocks
- Power Lawrence?
Who inspired me by with his enduarance and power by leading up a 6b+ route without falling (despite putting on 3 kg of baby fats from reservice).
Who resuced the runner from Cherie's 7b warm up route (see below).. and sweating buckets in the midst of doing so.
Who led us to "hol-land" in a mosquito infested mini bamboo forest while trying to trek from Railey to Tonsei.
Who was our fearless guide in our exciting bat-and-monkey-crap-filled caving adventure.
- (saved the best for last) Drama Queen Cherie?wow, dun even know where to begin.
Who attempted a 7b route on lead on her first climb for the trip thinking it was a 6a warm-up ... (and bravely insisted on trying to finish it ha ha)
who had 2 holes in her bag bitten by rats trying to get to her (stubbornly) hidden stash of food
who eventually tried to convince the resort manager to compensate her for her bag
who got so sick and so depressed w stomach flu ... and still climbed a 6b on top rope!
who kept making bimbotic Nat-geog wannabe documentary videos of the whole trip (no offense, cherie, ermm.. guess i'm guilty of that as well)
CNNNN from Krabi - with Cherie Ho
What else can I say but that I had a KRAZI KRABI KLIMBING good time!

Ode to An Old Friend
My dear brother and friend
William Loo
Embarked early before us all
On a jounery to heaven to meet God
Great memories of him i bear
Having been his housemate for a year
In good o' 43 Gratwick Terrace
A family in a foreign land we were.
Many times he made me laugh
As he crooned and strummed his guit
Showed me the songs he wrote
Told me about his past and present love.
Two times in my life he made me cry
Once for chidish and youthful disagreements we had
And now for the solemness of his departure
Which makes me gravely sad
In God i trust
I know for a fact
His glory will be made known
In all situations both happy and sad
I'll wait for the day
Until dear Will and I unite again
To talk, laugh and cry of days of old
Of things that no longer bring us pain
-----------------------
William Loo passed on to glory on the 14 Feb 2007 at the young age of 30.
"Lao Ba", as we used to call him, was my housemate in Perth for a year in 43 Gratwick Terrace, and my cell leader ( I was assistant, I think) when I was in OCF (Oversease Christian Fellowship) during my first year of studies in Murdoch. I remember the times that when he used to lead worship on his guit and me on the piano. Was always fun to have him around.
See you in heaven, brother!

Arrrgh... Ruby is sick!!
My mon chitchit (read: little furry critters with tails that inhabits audz's world) is sick!! Found pretty Ruby breathing hard and rather inactive today, reclining on her wooden home. Must be the dust from the wood chips bedding getting into her lungs. Used to have corn bedding, then changed to wood chips bedding given by a friend (Beef Patty) recently.
RUBY mon chitchit
PEOPLE OUT THERE READ THIS: dust from wood chips is NOT ideal for your critter amigoes!! Cheap, lousy and dusty - that's what wood chips bedding are.
Started her on some meds - Baytril and Berocca, yes, MY Berocca efferverscent tab, full of Vit B, C and bubbly goodness, where I get my regular anti-oxidant dose. Of course she gets only a small drop.
Hey Ruby, get better k, Amber ( her sister) is waiting to for you to join her again in fun and games!

Working Woes
Audz world is not always that wonderful...
There are always big bad monsters in life to spoil all good things.
There's a big bad monster that lives in my office.
He lumbers around, and makes everyone flustered, anxious and nervous by breathing down the necks at all the times.
He has a sacred set of rules, which he tries to enforce in the office. Watch out! If you don't live by them, he's out to get you. And he can make you feel reeeeaaaalll bad... he bugs u when you r working, he bugs you when you are not, he bugs you when you are sleeping, and also when you are eating... Until you follow his rigid ways HE GIVES YOU NO PEACE!!. Rigid ways which may not always be right, or smart.
So get out of his way if you want to keep your sanity and individualism!
