Krabi Krazi

Ohh... my fingers are itching so!! Itching to dig them into finger pockets, stick them into underclings, hang them on oversized jugs and squash them on puny crimpers... I MISS CLIMBING in KRABI!!

Nothing beats climbing outdoors, all naturale. The sun beating down your back, the firmness of the rocks against your hands, the sweat trickling down your back (sometimes butterflies in your stomach making you feel like crapping) and of course the awesome sense of acheivement when you manage to lead a challenging route (anything above 6a+ for me at the moment).

So hard to get back down to planet earth, back to mundane work... facing clueless clients, demanding boss, dying patients, annoying colleaguyes yada yada yada.. i'm sure u get the pic.

Anyway, back to my reverie....

Managed to lead couple of 6bs this time round, did top rope on 6b+ and 6c. So cool. Feel so inspired now to climb harder so that I can lead 6b+s next round!

Of coz I have to add the next section:

Memoirs of my krazi krabi climbing buddies. Who can forget:

- Minimalist Alex? Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Who brought only a pair of shoes ( no slippers, sandals etc), hence had to trek through the rising tide from Railey to Tonsei barefooted, skillfully balancing on the sharp barnacles covered rocks.
Who threw away a pair of pants, a bag pack, tooth brush at the end of the trip so that his bag finally weighed a mere total of 6 freaking kg at the airport (mine weighed 11 kg).
Who unbashfully donned a skimpy running shorts and "airy" singlet to dinner to sleep to everywhere else on Railey (except climbing coz lots of mossies)
Whos uses his favourite "drop-knee" stance in EVERY route be it a 4, 5 or 7a.

- Power Lawrence? Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Who inspired me by with his enduarance and power by leading up a 6b+ route without falling (despite putting on 3 kg of baby fats from reservice).
Who resuced the runner from Cherie's 7b warm up route (see below).. and sweating buckets in the midst of doing so.
Who led us to "hol-land" in a mosquito infested mini bamboo forest while trying to trek from Railey to Tonsei.
Who was our fearless guide in our exciting bat-and-monkey-crap-filled caving adventure.

- (saved the best for last) Drama Queen Cherie?Photobucket - Video and Image Hostingwow, dun even know where to begin.
Who attempted a 7b route on lead on her first climb for the trip thinking it was a 6a warm-up ... (and bravely insisted on trying to finish it ha ha)
who had 2 holes in her bag bitten by rats trying to get to her (stubbornly) hidden stash of food
who eventually tried to convince the resort manager to compensate her for her bag
who got so sick and so depressed w stomach flu ... and still climbed a 6b on top rope!
who kept making bimbotic Nat-geog wannabe documentary videos of the whole trip (no offense, cherie, ermm.. guess i'm guilty of that as well)

CNNNN from Krabi - with Cherie Ho

What else can I say but that I had a KRAZI KRABI KLIMBING good time!
